This district was formed during the year 1995 by trifurcating trichy district covering an area of 2,895,57, sq km. Agriculture and handloom products that are famous worldwide cause the major economic status. The place is developing vitally with all ascepts of comfort and growth for the people who live. The karur district is surrounded by namakkal district in the North and Dindigul district to the south , Trichy district to the west and Erode district on the east.
