Tuticorin

          It is located at southeastern comer of Tamilnadu state. It own the second biggest port of sea trade in the state. Tuticorin is the district headquarters with major industries such as Spic, Chemical industries; Heavy water plant and Thermal plant are located here. This town is even named as “Pearl city” in view of the pearl fishing being done periodically here; the next major business is salt production. The total area of this district is 4621 sq.km.surrounded by Tirunelveli district, Virudhunagar district and Ramanathapuram district in the north, in the east and the southeast by Gulf of Mannar and in the west and southwest by the Tirunelveli District.

         You have the oldest Shivan Temple dedicated to Sri Sankara Rameswara and the temple of Sri vaikundaparthy temple, which was built by the great King Sankara Pandyan during pandyas reign is still exist here. Moreover, you have, our lady’ of snow church is here which was built by the Portuguese in 1714.

Manapad
         It is located on the seashore about 18 km from Tiruchendur. Here, a Roman catholic church is famous for its cross of Jesus which is said to have been brought from Jerusalem. This church is also associated with st. Xavier who was a famous missionary.
Ottapidaram
         This is the birthplace of the great patriot V.O.Chidambaranar whose house has been converted into a memorial today.
Panchalankurchi (18 km)
         This is an unforgettable place of the south Indians. A small hamlet yet with a great historic protagonist named “Katta Bomman’s” birthplace, he who also raised his voice against the British rule in the 17th century AD. In his memory, a fort and a temple of sridevi jakkammal is built.
Korkai port
         It is a remote inland-situated 5- km from the district. Previously it is an ancient port city during the Pandya kings rule.
Vanchi Maniyachi
          Maniyachi has been renamed as “Vanchi Maniyachi” in memory of the freedom fighter named vanchinathan, who shot dead the then British collector of Tirunelveli here.
Thiruchendur (40km)
        The seashore is so friendly with low serge that provides an ideal spot for sea bathing. This place is popular for the temple of lord subramanya and it is a major pilgrim center of the southeast.
Kazhugu Malai
        This place has Jain cave temple and Jain architecture, an 18th century Murugan Temple called kaluguselaimoorthy kovil reveals the pre historic stories of this place.
Ettaiyapuram
         Ettiyapuram famous for its palace which has historical importance.
Bharathiar Mani Mandapam
         Bharathiar Mani Mandapam is a place of memory to the National poet Subramanya Bharthi. His voice echoed throughout the country those days against castetism and for freedom.
Athichanallur
          This is another ancient place with historical evidences. A place of archaeological importance where burial urns and other artifacts were found near the river Tamirabarani exposes the olden days living.
