Sivaganga
During 1985 this district was separated from Ramnad district. Based on historic background this district was the Territory to the kingdom of Ramnad originally as of pudukkotai on its pre – historic periods. Today sivaganga is the district headquarters of its own.

Pillaiyarpatti (12km from karaikudi)
This is an old temple, which exists from 1,600 years ago. A beautiful rock – cut temple with the deity karpaga vinayagar is worshipped here. It is an icon to be the oldest historic background of the 4th century AD. Its carvings will be a proof.
Kalaiyarkoil (18km)
This place is named after a temple in this Town, which in known as “Kaleeswarar temple”. A famous shrine unto the people of south.
